About Blue Book
What has made Blue Book the industry leader for 50 years?

Blue Book is the most detailed directory available in the industry. End Users, prospective partners and clients all turn to Blue Book for their research needs, and it is easy to use. Listings are comprehensive and companies can be found in a variety of ways such as by geography, and specific skill sets or services. Our information comes directly from our members and each member is required to endorse our Code of Marketing Research Standards and is committed to excellence in the industry.

How is the print book different from the online version?
  • The print book has been published for over 20 years and contains two sections of detailed data on each company's listing. It is printed and distributed once a year.
  • Our online version includes all the same comprehensive information as the print version. It also features facility photos, RFP function to request bids online and much more. It's available to the world 24/7.
Can I download this program?

This is a secure database and no portion of this program may be downloaded.

How often is the information updated?

The whole site is completely updated at the beginning of February each year to correspond with the distribution of the print book. During the course of the year basic information is also updated per members' requests.

Who can list in Blue Book?

Marketing research companies that are members of MRA may list in Blue Book. A new opportunity for moderators to showcase their capabilities and then be found through the search function is also available.

Can I list in the online version, print or both?

When you purchase a online listing you automatically receive an print listing as part of your purchase. You may also purchase an online only listing.

How do I list in the directory?

Listings for the online and print editions are accepted between September 1 and October 31 each year to prepare for the following year's edition. Online-only listings are accepted at any time of year. Please note that you or your company must be a MRA member in good standing in order to list in Blue Book.

How do I update my listing?

All requests to update information contained in this directory must be sent to Cheryl Bechard in written form. Phone-in changes will not be accepted.

Why offer a request for proposal (RFP) with your listing?

Clients! RFP's are sent to vendors whom clients have identified as being able to produce the results they need. Your Blue Book listing has the detailed descriptions of services and facilities to help End Users make decisions. Inviting a RFP through your Blue Book listing will likely significantly increase the number of competitive bids that you receive.

How can I learn more about the profession before starting my search?

Please visit MRA's Media Center to learn about marketing research, the difference between qualitative and quantitative research, challenges to the profession, respondent cooperation and much more.

Once I locate a company I am interested in, can MRA provide a referral?

No, MRA cannot provide referrals. Blue Book listers must be members of MRA and are required to endorse our Code of Marketing Research Standards. You may also consult with MRA's Exchange Evaluation Program which is a peer-to-peer review system, allowing companies and organizations to post reviews for any business entity with whom they have conducted business.

How Do I search Blue Book?

You can easily find companies when you search by keyword, business type, specialty type, company name, individual name or location. You can narrow your search further by drilling down into these broad categories. We've also provided popular search categories on the main page to provide additional direction.

What is a category search?

This function allows you to conduct a broad search by research category such as online research, healthcare research, qualitative research, advertising research, etc.

What is a specialty search?

This function allows you to search for a specific skill set within a broad category, for example, interviewing specialties, data collection capabilities, recruiting services, onsite services, facility type and much more.

Can I submit a request for proposal (RFP)?

RFP's can be submitted for Qualitative and/or Quantitative bids using MRA's templates. Using the templates to develop your RFP will help research organizations develop a realistic project plan and budget ensuring their proposals get submitted in such a way that they are easy for you to review and compare against each other. Our goal is to make the process easier and more effective.

Writing a proper request for proposal (RFP) can be a lot of work. Now, with MRA's RFP template, a lot of the effort is already done for you so you can make better decisions while saving you a significant amount of time and effort.

Should I submit a request for proposal (RFP)?

Do you want a market research (MR) project that precisely meets your goals? Then you need a precise Request For Proposal (RFP). The RFP is necessary to document your research needs and expectations. It also gives you an opportunity to ask for free advice. Do exceptions exist? Do some clients successfully hire agencies without a formal RFP? Sure, but it is risky. Unless you have a long-standing relationship with a market research agency, the RFP process is your lowest-risk path to research excellence. It mitigates a lot of risks and ultimately will save you a lot of time and money.
